Parents/Players Game 2013
Excited About 2014? Wolfetones GAA are! The Wolfetones were wondering "How do we beat the incredible year we all had last year?" Looking back…
Most Football matches ever!
More Hurling with each blitz
CYC in Philly
Awesome Parents/Players game
Well, the Wolfetones want to make 2014 even better. We are transitioning from Wolfetones GFC to Wolfetones GAA. We would like to grow our football club into a Gaelic Games organization. Though we may not be ready to field Hurling teams yet, we are going to increase the weekly exposure to the "Fastest Game on Grass"
We will continue with the games format from last year with some additional tweaks. We are looking to add some mid week practice time to our weekend match schedules. Games are a difficult time to practice new skills and mid week practice time will accelerate each player's skill level. We also hope to enter teams in this year's Boston Minor Board Championships in August
The Wolfetones are only as strong as our numbers and parent participation. We need numbers! Encourage friends and family to check us out. The only cost is time and the benefits are many. We understand everyone is busy. But for a short time investment, the kids get athletic activity, new friends, teamwork and great insight into Irish sports. Parents make new friends and enjoy the pleasant atmosphere while watching their kids develop within a team sport. Spread the word!
The Wolfetones are also looking into a variety of new options for each of our families. CYC is in NY this year and our goal is to bring the numbers. The experience of being surrounding in a Gaelic Games atmosphere is incredible and hard to match in any sport! Hopefully, with the matches being closer, it becomes a more viable option for our parents.
We are always open to new ideas and Leadership participation! 2014 is a sponsorship year and we are looking for any new sponsors to support our crew of Gaelic kids. As we do not charge for any of the GAA activities, we must still pay for uniforms, equipment, fields and insurance.
Online merchandising as well as the possibility of purchasing new uniforms are just two more of the areas, we are looking to upgrade for this 2014 season. Send your thoughts, ideas and suggestions!

JBO v SOE Golf Tournament Rescheduled Aug 17th Thanks to our Volunteers !
Thank you to the volunteers for helping with the JBO-SOE Golf Grudge Match last Saturday at the Shaker Farms CC in Westfield. We had support from the Cournoyers, O'Neils, O'Briens, Moores and Connallys. The kids helped register the golfers as well as running a "Double or Nothing " on the 9th. Check out the Pics! The proceeds will help support the Wolfetones next year.
Special thanks goes to Eamonn Burke, Pat Burns, Dan Shea and Ed Gates for helping organizing the event to support GAA in Western Mass!
Wolfetones Players v. Parents Helps Kick Off the JBO Feis
The Wolfetones brought their 2013 competitive season to a close with a high spirited match between the Players and Parents. A lot of fun and even more laughs filled the Chestnut school pitch on Saturday. Though the Parents edged the Players on the scoreboard, the Players had the last laugh as the Parents moved gingerly off the field! There will be more than one household with the aroma of Ben Gay on Sunday morning. The Players were still running around the Feis as the Parents made themselves comfortable by listening to some great Irish music and enjoying food, friends and beverages. Check out these photos by Sheila Connally. She promises to play in next year's contest!

It's should be a great day with a lot of laughs. Please confirm with your coaches on your availability.
Wolfetones Compete At The 2013 CYC
The Wolfetones were well represented at this year's Continental Youth Championships held just outside Philadelphia. The Wolfetones U8 team played very well against teams from San Diego and Philadelphia. Our youngest team kept getting better with each match, winning one and just missing in two more. We also had 6 players from our U10 and U12 teams join the the St Brendan's U12 team in their B division contests. They played against some premiere talent from New Haven and New York. Tomas Carney and Maura Cournoyer joined up with the older Hartford teams and got a lot of football in during the tournament. Maura also joined ISYL in their matches as well. A special congratulations goes to our own Brigid Moore for helping ISYL win the U8 camogie title. A round of applause goes to all the players and their parents for making the trip to the CYC. Check out some pics from the CYC below!
U8s: Liam Cournoyer, Garrett Keleher, Brigid Moore, Brendan Moore, Rory Shea, Pat Fletcher, Declan and Deirdre Connally. U10s: Cathal Carney, Conor Connally and Riley Shea. U12s: Jack Shea, Liam and Clare Murphy U14s: Tomas Carney and Maura Cournoyer
Next year in Long Island, we are hoping for full teams in the U8, U10 and U12 divisions! Let's get ready to take New York in 2014!

Wolfetones GFC Host The Boston Northeast Minor Teams
Western Mass GAA played host to teams from Dorchester, Canton, Milton, Portland ME and Hartford CT. Over 100 kids played Football and Hurling before making their way to the John Boyle O'Reilly Club for some food with friends and families. Though Mother Nature couldn't make up her mind if it was going to rain or not, it didn't dampen any spirits of the players, families or friends who attended the first Springfield GAA Blitz! There were multiple games in all the age groups from U6 up to U16. There were a lot of people making sure that the Wolfetones Blitz went off smoothly and created a perfect environment for the Gaelic games. The list is long but filled with Parents, Wolfe Den Members and Coaches who did everything from scheduling, organizing, lining the field, directing players and families, coaching, sales, fundraising, photography, cleanup and cooking. The Wolfetones would like to thank everyone who helped, played, traveled and made our first Blitz memorable. Now, check out some of the photos of the football, families and friends!

Wolfetones at the MGSA Blitz 6/29/13
James Tierney and his MGSA team did a great job with this weekend's blitz! Weather and additional numbers kept him and his on the their toes. What a great day for everyone who got the chance to make the trip to South Portland. Their was plenty of football and hurling for everyone. The U10's swept their football matches while the U8's joined with St Brendan's to give ISYL a run for their money. Then it was time to notch their first team win as hurlers as the Springfield team with the help of a few St. Brendan's edged out a ISYL/Maine group. The Best Western Merry Manor should be getting back to normal as the Wolfetones departed Sunday morning after two great nights by the pool! Football, fun, friends and family is what the Wolfetones are all about.

Sons of Erin v. John Boyle O'Reilly Annual Golf Tournament
John Boyle O'Reilly-Sons of Erin Golf Tournament, June 8th, 2013
This annual tournament between our two clubs has been a big assistance to the Wolfetones GFC. Along with the GAA Broadcasts, the Wolfetones are the primary beneficiaries of the money raised from this golf outting. It's a friendly competition between the clubs with fun and food both on the course and afterwards at the Sons of Erin in Westfield.
Volunteers We are looking for players to volunteer on the day of the tournament to work the course. Handing out waters and helping out. It's great for the Golfers to see the Wolfetones players that their fees are helping make Gaelic football possible. We'll have the kids in uniform and guided by a coach or team parent. We are looking to have two groups, Group A from 8:45 to 11:15 and Group B from 11:15 to 2:00. Please contact your coach to sign up!
Sponsorships There will be signs at each tee naming sponsors for the event. Once again this year, Wolfetones Coaching staff will be sponsoring a tee. In the previous years, the Wolfetones parents have combined to sponsor a tee. The tee sponsorship is $50 per tee. It's great to chip in on one and show your support. For sponsorship information, contact our own Eamonn Burke at firstname.lastname@example.org or 202-288-9155.
Players There is still room for additional players if golf is your thing. The tournament is open to all club members. It's just $80 per golfer and includes golf, cart and dinner at the SOE after.
It's a lot of fun and all for a great cause, GAA in Western MA!

When booking online via the link above, the rate of $145/night is only available starting 7/24 so if you plan or coming before the 24th, you will need to contact Heidi Derise at email@example.com to book the other nights at the discounted rate.
The room available to us is a one bedroom king suite with double sleeper sofa.
This is the ONLY room type available to us at the discounted rate. They have no 2 bedroom suites available that week and will not discount any more if you need to book more than one room. The Wolfetones will start their 2013 football season with practice on May 4th from 3:00-4:15 at the Chestnut Middle School, Plainfield St, Springfield. We've had a great turnout at our pre-season events and now it's show time. This year should be especially fun and competitive as we have a new blitz format as well as league playoffs! Check out our schedule on the Calendar and Game Schedule page! Interested in playing? The Wolfetones Gaelic Football Club is open to all children, boys and girls, ages 5-16. Contact Mike Carney at firstname.lastname@example.org, or Mike Connally at email@example.com for more information. Click here for a Wolfetones Application. Originally, we had March 24 on the schedule and noticed it was Palm Sunday. Sorry about any confusion.
Great round of applause to the kids and families who were able to march this past Sunday in the Holyoke St Patrick's Parade. With over 400,000 spectators and 15,000 marchers, the Wolfetones GFC may have been the loudest group to walk the 2.65 miles in that sunny cold!
Special thanks to Judy, Vanessa, Kate and Sheila for working the Wolfe Tones concert last Wednesday. The Wolfe Den was working the fundraising by selling our new Wolfetones merchandise and pulling the 50/50 raffle.
Enjoy your Easter, Michael Connally

The Wolfe Den did a great job getting the word out on short notice, selling 57 tickets as well as running a very successful game jersey raffle. Successful? The Wolfetones set a Springfield Falcon's record for raffle tickets sales and raised an easy $900 for our club!! That's what I call scoring one for the home team!

Wolfetones Close out their Winter Clinic Sessions with a Great Turnout!
The Wolfetones would like to thank all of the parents and their kids for coming out to our Winter Skills Clinics this year. We had a very good and consistent turnout for the three snow-time sessions. It may have been drizzling outside, but the kids were all smiles and hustle as they spent the session playing their hearts out.
